Rupert Grint is set to reprise his iconic role as Ron Weasley on Broadway in the acclaimed production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This marks Grint’s return to the world of Harry Potter more than a decade after the film series concluded. He will be joining the long-standing stage production for a 17-week engagement starting February 2027, reuniting with the character he portrayed across all eight Harry Potter films alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.
Expressing his excitement, Grint reflected on the enduring connection he feels with Ron Weasley, a character he first brought to life at the age of 11. He noted the unique experience of revisiting Ron at this point in both their lives, as fathers, which adds a fresh dimension to the role while maintaining its familiarity.
Grint’s return to the magical world of Harry Potter follows closely on the heels of Tom Felton, who recently reprised his role as Draco Malfoy in the same Broadway production. Felton is set to continue his performance through January. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which premiered in London in 2016, has since expanded to multiple international stages, selling over 14 million tickets worldwide. The New York production alone has amassed more than $532 million in revenue.
Grint is no stranger to the Broadway stage, having made his debut in 2014 with the comedy It’s Only a Play. Beyond his work in the Harry Potter films, Grint has expanded his acting repertoire with roles in projects such as Knock at the Cabin, Charlie Countryman, and Nightborn. His return to the wizarding world coincides with the development of a new Harry Potter television series for HBO, set to introduce the beloved story to a new generation.
