The Pheu Thai Party is finalizing its plan to file a no-confidence motion against the minority government led by the Bhumjaithai Party while awaiting confirmation from the People’s Party (PP) on whether it will join the effort.
Deputy leader Visuth Chainaroon said discussions on the timing and focus of the motion are ongoing. He added that if the House is dissolved before the motion is filed, the party is ready to contest a general election immediately.
Newly appointed Pheu Thai leader Julapun Amornvivat will engage in talks with the PP to determine possible cooperation. The party has yet to decide whether to target the entire cabinet or specific ministers, as MPs continue monitoring government performance and potential misconduct.
Party-list MP Anusorn Iamsa-ard noted that the government faces increasing instability amid multiple national challenges, including scams, cross-border crime, and border security issues. He said party members are weighing whether to push the motion in the upcoming session or follow the political timeline agreed upon between the PP and the minority government, which includes a clause for dissolving parliament and holding elections within four months.
