Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will visit Singapore on November 7 to enhance bilateral cooperation and mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Thailand and Singapore, Foreign Affairs Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow announced.
The visit will focus on expanding collaboration in the green economy, food technology, and food security. Singapore has expressed interest in increasing rice imports from Thailand, while both nations are exploring trade agreements covering agricultural products and joint ventures in sectors such as data centres, semiconductors, and clean energy.
The two sides also discussed strengthening regional cooperation within ASEAN, addressing the effects of US tariff measures, and promoting peaceful solutions to regional challenges, including the situation in Myanmar and Cambodia.
During his recent visit, Minister Sihasak co-chaired the 15th Civil Service Exchange Programme under the theme “Partners in Progress: Shaping a Green and Digital Future.” The programme emphasized sustainable economic growth, human resource development, and deeper cooperation in digital and green innovation.
Thailand also plans to renew its Memorandum of Understanding on digital cooperation with Singapore and is pursuing membership in the Digital Economic Partnership Agreement, which currently includes Singapore, South Korea, Chile, and New Zealand. Additionally, both countries are considering linking their digital payment systems, PromptPay and PayNow, under the regional “Nexus Pay” network to streamline cross-border transactions.
