Thailand clinched the bronze medal in women’s volleyball at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, defeating South Korea 3-0 on Tuesday at Park Arena Komaki. The victory, with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, and 25-23, marks Thailand’s fourth consecutive medal in the event and their third bronze in this competition.
In the opening set, South Korea initially took the lead, but Thailand quickly countered with strong attacks and effective serves to secure the set at 25-20. The momentum continued into the second set, which remained tight until Thailand regained control after trailing 11-9. Their offensive strength allowed them to close the set at 25-19.
The third set saw a resilient South Korean side once again taking an early advantage. However, Thailand leveled the score at 12-12, maintaining a close contest throughout. The decisive moment came when Thailand reached match point at 24-23, sealing the victory after a South Korean error.
Thailand’s performance at the Asian Games extends their streak of podium finishes, having previously earned bronze in 2014, silver in 2018, and bronze again in 2022. This consistent success underscores their prominence in Asian women’s volleyball.
Further adding to their achievements, Thailand’s victory at the 2026 Asian championship has also secured their qualification for the women’s volleyball tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
