During a visit to Seoul, the President of Vietnam’s National Assembly, Trần Thanh Mẫn, engaged with leaders from South Korea’s top conglomerates, urging them to increase investments in sectors such as high-tech industries, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy, and sustainable development. These discussions underscore Vietnam’s strategic push to bolster economic collaboration with South Korea, especially in cutting-edge technology and energy sectors.
In a meeting with Samsung Electronics CEO Roh Tae-moon, Mẫn acknowledged Samsung’s significant role in Vietnam’s economy through its investments, job creation, and support for local enterprises. He encouraged Samsung to further its high-tech investments, aligning with Vietnam’s economic growth objectives. Roh assured that Samsung would continue to support Vietnam’s priorities, focusing on digital transformation, technological advancements, and workforce development. The company has also been instrumental in enhancing Vietnamese businesses through initiatives in smart factory technology, automation, and skills development.
Further discussions with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won revealed a shared interest in expanding investments in semiconductors, AI, renewable energy, and emission-reduction technologies. Mẫn expressed appreciation for SK’s proposal to establish a large-scale AI center in Vietnam and its plans to invest in energy infrastructure and AI data centers, marking significant steps in Vietnam’s tech landscape.
Meeting with LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo, Mẫn highlighted the over $10 billion investment by LG Group in Vietnam, urging deeper cooperation with Vietnamese suppliers and advancements in technology and skills development. LG recognized Vietnam’s critical role in its global production network, indicating a commitment to furthering their investment impact.
Concluding his series of engagements, Mẫn met with Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin, where he advocated for increased investments in smart urban development, infrastructure, tourism, and services. He emphasized the importance of accelerating major projects while emphasizing sustainability, green development, and adherence to ESG standards. These meetings collectively emphasize Vietnam’s intent to attract substantial foreign investment, fostering economic ties with South Korea in advanced technology and digital industries.
