Vietnam’s National Day celebration in Doha underscored the strong diplomatic ties and growing cooperation between Vietnam and Qatar. The event, commemorating the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, brought together senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders, highlighting the expansion of bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1993.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep emphasized the significant strides Vietnam has made in its development and the importance of its relationship with Qatar and other nations. The two countries have seen a steady expansion in cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, labor, aviation, agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, and telecommunications.
Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Qatar has seen a notable increase, reaching approximately $423 million in 2025, indicative of the rising business engagements and investment opportunities. This economic partnership has been bolstered by high-level exchanges, such as the visit of the Qatari Prime Minister to Vietnam in October 2024.
Both Vietnam and Qatar have expressed a shared interest in further strengthening their bilateral cooperation and expanding economic partnerships. This ongoing dialogue and collaboration reflect a mutual commitment to fostering peace, dialogue, and international cooperation, as emphasized during the National Day celebration.
