Vietnam has reiterated its dedication to aiding Myanmar through the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), underscoring the significance of the Five-Point Consensus as the primary framework for fostering peace and stability in the nation. During an informal meeting of ASEAN foreign ministers in Bangkok, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Lê Hoài Trung highlighted Myanmar’s importance within ASEAN and voiced support for initiatives aimed at national reconciliation, economic recovery, and enhanced governance.
Minister Trung urged ASEAN to adopt more practical and concrete measures, advocating for regular dialogue and direct engagement with Myanmar to effectively monitor developments and encourage substantial progress. He emphasized that Vietnam is prepared to closely collaborate with the 2026 ASEAN Chair and other member states to assist Myanmar in addressing social challenges, combating transnational crime, and bolstering regional cooperation.
