Representing Brunei, Mohd Isham Jaafar signed the agreement, while Budi Gunadi Sadikin did so on behalf of Indonesia. This MoU is designed to expand cooperation in key areas of the health sector, reinforcing the robust bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The agreement sets the stage for a comprehensive framework to guide future strategic partnerships in various health-related fields. It covers several priority areas such as primary healthcare, healthcare services, health system resilience, healthcare financing, workforce development, and health technology. By focusing on these areas, both nations aim to bolster their national healthcare systems through mutually beneficial collaboration.
Officials from both governments have emphasized that this partnership underscores a shared commitment to strengthening their respective healthcare infrastructures. It also supports broader regional and global public health initiatives, aligning with their goals of improving healthcare outcomes across the board.
Through the new framework, Brunei and Indonesia are expected to engage in knowledge sharing, capacity building, and innovation in healthcare delivery. This collaboration is anticipated to benefit citizens of both countries, enhancing public health and contributing positively to the region’s healthcare landscape.
