Thailand is enhancing its aviation sector through strategic collaborations and infrastructure upgrades. Recent partnerships with Vietnam Airlines and flydubai are set to bolster the country’s international connectivity, while planned improvements to regional airports aim to support tourism and travel efficiency.
Vietnam Airlines has inaugurated a new route from Ho Chi Minh City to Phuket, starting on July 2, with four flights each week. This service offers an annual capacity of approximately 39,500 seats and addresses the growing travel demand from Vietnamese tourists, with over 300,000 having visited Thailand in the first half of the year alone.
Flydubai has also expanded its services with daily flights between Dubai and Bangkok commencing on July 1. The airline plans to double this service to two daily flights starting September 15, further enhancing the connectivity between the United Arab Emirates and Thailand.
In addition to these new routes, Thailand is set to introduce the Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) at its regional airports. This initiative aims to improve air traffic management, enhance operational efficiency, and increase access to secondary cities. The AFIS system is slated to be implemented at Phrae and Phetchabun airports by 2028, with consideration for future expansion to other regional airports.
