Vietnam and France have reinforced their commitment to enhancing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on key areas such as diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. During recent discussions held in Hanoi, representatives from both nations evaluated the progress made in their bilateral relationship and agreed to expedite the execution of their partnership action plan.
The Vietnamese side emphasized the need for increased cooperation in defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, critical minerals, and significant infrastructure projects. Additionally, Vietnam urged France to hasten the ratification of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to maintain its support for lifting the European Union’s “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood exports.
France, on its part, recognized Vietnam as a vital strategic partner within the Asia-Pacific region and showed interest in expanding collaboration across various sectors. These include nuclear energy, rare earths, satellite technology, transportation infrastructure, healthcare, and cultural exchanges. The French government expressed a keen interest in bolstering ties in these areas to strengthen their strategic partnership with Vietnam.
Both countries agreed to enhance their coordination on regional and global issues, emphasizing the importance of multilateralism and dialogue. They also committed to promoting sustainable development, reflecting their shared goals in addressing international challenges. This commitment is aimed at fostering a more robust relationship between the two nations, aligning with their long-term strategic objectives.
